Mee Eat Paleo Ventura Strong Fundraiser
**Proceeds from the Ventura Strong Fundraising effort will be donated to victims of Thomas Fire, mudslides, Ventura Police Foundation and Ventura Fire Association.**

On December 4, 2017, the Thomas Fire devastated my beautiful city of Ventura, CA and surrounding areas.
The Thomas Fire was a massive wildfire that affected Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, and one of multiple wildfires that ignited in Southern California in December 2017. It burned approximately 281,893 acres becoming the largest wildfire in modern California history, before it was fully contained on January 12, 2018. The Thomas Fire destroyed at least 1,063 structures, while damaging 280 others and caused over $2.176 billion in damages, including more than $204.5 million in suppression costs, becoming the seventh-most destructive wildfire in state history. Ventura's agriculture industry suffered at least $171 million dollars in losses, due to the Thomas Fire. By January 2, 2018, the Thomas Fire had cost over $204 million to fight, and had forced over 104,607 residents to evacuate. At its height, the Thomas Fire saw over 8,500 firefighters mobilized to fight it, which was the largest mobilization of firefighters for combating any wildfire in California history. (from Wikipedia)
Houses one street over from me burned down to the ground, but by the grace of God my home was spared. Some of my friends were not so lucky and lost everything. It was during this time that I was moved to do something to help. I realized on my own I couldn't help everyone, but with the help of our amazing community, we could make a difference, even if we were to help one person. So I reached out to my network of paleo and healthy food companies as well as my local church* and we managed to put together amazing MeeNut Butter care packages for fire victims as well as all six Ventura City fire stations.
However, with the ensuing mudslides and still so much left to rebuild, I was inspired to launch this Mee Eat Paleo - Ventura Strong Fundraiser, with proceeds of shirt sales to be donated to victims of the Thomas Fire and mudslides, as well as support the Ventura Police Foundation and Ventura Fire Association.
